Langdon House

Langdon House is purpose built home within the community of Colac and has been providing respite care services to the Colac Otway region since 1990. It was named after Mrs. Bertha Langdon, a long serving member of the CODA Inc. Board and a tireless worker and advocate for people with a disability, their families and the Colac community.

The house is accessible and fully equipped to provide maximum care and comfort.

Langdon House staff are trained in all facets of meeting the individual needs of people with intellectual, physical and sensory disabilities and acquired brain injury.

Respite placements are arranged individually with each carer, and are flexible according to the needs of the client and family. Every effort will be made to make a family member's stay as positive as possible by taking into account any compatibility issues when accepting bookings.

Langdon House staff support people to access the community while enjoying their stay and to participate in community events and activities.

Emergency respite may be provided on an as needs basis.

Community based respite

CODA staff can provide indiviualised respite support to people who have this component identified and supported through their planning process with National Disability Insurance Agency.

We will work with a family to develop a respite plan that suits them, organising respite breaks that might be at home, out and about in the community, or weekends away and holidays. Breaks can be for a few hours, overnight or several days.

Application for respite

Families/carers can obtain application forms by contacting the CODA office.

The admissions panel meets monthly to review referrals and determine placements, usually not exceeding 63 days per year.
